In a joint meeting involving Ukrainian Defence Minister Umierov and key industry stakeholders, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin announced a significant surge in Ukraine’s defense industry capabilities for 2024, projecting a sixfold increase compared to the current year. Despite commendable progress in 2023, Kamyshin acknowledged the industry’s struggle to meet the Armed Forces’ needs. Ukraine, still reliant on external supplies, aims to enhance production capacity, with the president emphasizing domestic procurement. The Ministry of Defence outlined its approach for 2024 requirements, indicating budget constraints that allow contracting only half of the domestic market capacity. The meeting, attended by over 30 major producers, identified industry challenges, including procedural simplification and access to affordable loans.
