Ukraine’s National Power Company, Ukrenergo, is set to receive an additional EUR 24.5 million from the German government to enhance the country’s energy system. Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi announced the allocation, with EUR 24 million in credit and EUR 0.5 million designated to bolster the stability of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The funds will be utilized to strengthen technical ties with the continental European energy system, restore high-voltage facilities in the western region, and implement protective measures. Previous collaborations with the German government, facilitated through the KfW bank, have seen Ukrenergo secure over EUR 220 million for substation restoration and liquidity maintenance. Additionally, German transmission system operators have contributed crucial equipment for the repair of Ukrenergo’s primary power grids and substations. The company aims to finalize agreements for up to EUR 200 million in financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development by the end of 2023.
