The United States is set to announce a substantial new military aid package for Ukraine by the end of September. Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, shared this update during the 20th annual YES (Yalta European Strategy) meeting in Kyiv.
Sullivan emphasized that the aid package is part of ongoing efforts to stabilize Ukraine’s front lines and counter potential Russian advancements. He highlighted the daily strategic discussions his team engages in to address both logistical and operational challenges.
In light of recent successes by Ukrainian forces, Sullivan noted that the focus is not just on political will but on overcoming complex issues to deliver critical supplies. This includes rapidly producing and supplying 155 mm artillery rounds and reallocating Patriot missiles previously intended for other partners.
The US has already committed over $700 million in humanitarian and additional support, as announced by Secretary of State Antony Blinken in early September.
