Russia was drawing military equipment and ammunition from the Far East, the Urals and other regions to sustain its war against Ukraine, National Security and Defence Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said, Ukrinform reported on August 6, 2022.

Danilov argued that Moscow was committing extensive resources because it believed it could not afford to lose. His remarks did not include a verified inventory, shipment volume or timetable.

He also claimed that many Russian frontline personnel belonged to non-Russian ethnic groups whose language, history and traditions had been suppressed. That was his characterisation, not an independently documented demographic breakdown of Russian forces.

Danilov credited improved effectiveness of Ukraine's defence forces to the increased quantity and quality of weapons supplied by partners. He stressed the importance of continued assistance and argued that diplomatic efforts should be backed by battlefield results.
