Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a vague and conditions for ceasefire
von Kyiv Center for Defense Policy | März 13, 2025 | Russland, Ukraine, Krieg | 0 |
Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a vague and conditional response to US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal, expressing support in principle while adding demands that all but ensure a deadlock. The Yellow Ribbon movement has reported that Russian forces and Russian-installed authorities in the temporarily occupied territories are targeting orphans, single people, and children of parents with disabilities for mobilization as they are ‘least likely to be missed’. The involvement of people in temporarily occupied territories (TOT) with the occupying military forces against their own people is a great crime of the Russian leadership. The only thing that will stop them is the de-occupation of Ukrainian territory. As reported by Ukrinform, an unprecedented draft is expected in the spring in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In the TOT...

von Kyiv Center for Defense Policy | Jan. 13, 2025 | Welt | 0 |
The Russian state has been pursuing a 2-track strategy to cover its mounting war costs, supplementing its highly scrutinized defense budget expenditures with funding from an off-budget defense financing scheme that is similar in scale but has been overlooked by analysts. Unlike its federal defense budget expenditures, which remain at sustainable levels, Russia’s off-budget funding scheme is proving much more problematic to sustain. This now poses a funding dilemma for Moscow that could weigh on its war calculus while providing Ukraine and its allies valuable, new negotiating leverage.
