The French military task force “Champagne” has been training the newly formed “Anne of Kyiv” brigade of Ukrainian troops at a military base in France to bolster Ukraine’s defenses against Russia’s invasion, especially as Russian forces advance in the eastern Donbas region. Over two months, the brigade, consisting of several thousand soldiers, has undergone intensive training and will return home equipped with advanced French military hardware, including tanks and artillery. More than 2,000 soldiers are finalizing their training, supported by around 1,500 French instructors. The training involves real-world combat scenarios to improve the troops’ coordination and operational capabilities. As the conflict escalates, the return of these trained soldiers is expected to enhance Ukraine’s military operations amid uncertain political implications, particularly concerning potential changes in U.S. support following Donald Trump’s reelection.
