Japanese telecommunications giant NEC Group has announced the suspension of all future sales, services, and investments in Russia in response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. In a statement, the company expressed sympathy for those affected by the conflict, particularly the families of its employees from the region. NEC’s subsidiary, Netcracker Technology, has been actively supporting its employees in Ukraine by organizing evacuations and providing essential aid, including housing, food, water, and supplies. Over 700 Ukrainian employees and their families have been relocated to safer areas within Ukraine and abroad.
NEC has also pledged €500,000 to the UN World Food Program to aid humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and its surrounding regions. Additionally, the company has initiated global donation drives among its employees to further contribute to relief efforts.
NEC emphasized its compliance with Japanese government regulations and international community standards in its decision to cease operations in Russia. The company hopes for the restoration of peace and safety in the affected areas soon.
As a leading global manufacturer of electronics, computer technology, and telecommunications equipment, NEC’s actions underline its commitment to social responsibility during this humanitarian crisis. Through its financial contributions, employee support initiatives, and operational decisions, the company has demonstrated a clear stance against the conflict and solidarity with Ukraine.
