Treasury Intensifies Sanctions Against Russia by Targeting Russia’s Oil Production and Exports
The US imposed sanctions on over 200 entities, including Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas, and individuals involved in Russia’s energy sector and identified over 180 vessels as blocked property. This wide-ranging, robust action will further constrain revenues from Russia’s energy resources and degrade Putin’s ability to fund his illegal war against Ukraine.

Termination of Russian gas transit one of Moscow’s biggest defeats – Zelensky
“When Putin was presented with the Russian presidency more than 25 years ago, the annual gas transit through Ukraine to Europe totaled more than 130 billion cubic meters. Today, it equals 0. This is one of Moscow’s biggest defeats. As a result of Russia weaponizing energy and resorting to cynical blackmail of partners, Moscow lost one of the most profitable and geographically accessible markets” – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Russia resells more gas in Europe after cutting off Austria, sources, data show
Russia has resold more gas after cutting off Austria. The remaining unsold Russian gas has been bought elsewhere in Europe particularly Hungary and Slovakia as well as to the Czech Republic which doesn’t have direct contact. Smaller volumes are being supplied to Italy and Serbia.

Gazprom reports 9-month loss of $3.2 billion
Kremlin-owned gas giant Gazprom confirmed its nine-month loss under Russian accounting standards, which do not include subsidiaries, was 309 billion roubles ($3.2 billion) compared to a profit of 446 billion roubles in the same period of 2023. It did not explain the reason behind the losses.
