Targets by Russia, Ukrainians in addition to foreign journalists

 Russia has been targeting both Ukrainian and foreign journalists covering its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. North Korea is using Russia’s Ukraine invasion to upgrade its army

Pyongyang has a very specific interest in sending troops to fight against Ukraine. While the deployment is unlikely to dramatically alter the battlefield situation in the Kremlin’s favour, it allows the North Koreans to acquire priceless combat experience, test weapons systems, gain access to Russian military technologies, and secure Moscow’s further assistance in countering UN sanctions. According to South Korean intelligence, North Korean troops deployed to Russia have moved to the frontline region of Kursk and are “already engaging in combat” against Ukraine. The South Korean spy agency disclosed the information a day after North Korea reported leader Kim Jong-un’s ratification of a mutual defence treaty that he signed with Russian President Vladimir Putin in June. The treaty, which commits the two nations to providing military aid to each other in the event of war, has pushed the countries’ relations to new heights.

North Korean Troops Train in Russia as Moscow Deepens War Coalition

North Korea has sent troops to Russia in recent weeks, as stated by the United States Defence Secretary, Lloyd Austin. This had confirmed prior assertions by Ukraine and South Korea that North Korea has deepened its military partnership with Russia.
