Russia has resold more gas after cutting off Austria. The remaining unsold Russian gas has been bought elsewhere in Europe particularly Hungary and Slovakia as well as to the Czech Republic which doesn’t have direct contact. Smaller volumes are being supplied to Italy and Serbia.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center has reported that Russia actively practices religious persecution on the peninsula. 117 individuals are currently at some stage of persecution. Russia has accused Crimean Tatars of being members of Hizb ut-Tahrir, who are banned in Russia as a terrorist organization but operate legally in Ukraine.

A new Ukrainian brigade is completing training in France. The Anne of Kyiv brigade will consist of 4,500 soldiers formed from infantry battalions, as well as engineers, artillery units and other specialists, as previously stated by the French authorities. Bryan Lanza, a senior advisor to President-Elect Donald Trump, said the incoming administration will aim to focus on achieving peace in Ukraine rather than enabling the country to gain back territory occupied by Russia. Lanza stated that if Zelensky were to demand peace if Crimea were returned then “he shows us that he’s not serious” and added, “Crimea is gone”.
