North Korea has sent military troops to Russia in recent weeks, as stated by the United States Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin. This had confirmed prior assertions by Ukraine and South Korea that North Korea has deepened its military partnership with Russia.
The Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a war crimes criminal investigation into the killings of two unarmed Ukrainian POWs by the Russian Armed Forces. The executions were said to have happened near the city of Selidove in the Donetsk Oblast.
Switzerland has become the 15th member of the European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI), a project which seeks to build a unified air and missile defence system across Europe. The system was initiated by Germany following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and continues to grow.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been waging simultaneous wars in Ukraine: conventional, hybrid, or cyber warfare, and environmental, or “ecocide”. Ecocide, used as a weapon of war, occurs alongside the systematic destruction of the country’s civilian infrastructure and energy network.
Russian military command may not be willing or able to accept the current scale and rate of vehicle loss in the coming months and years given the constraints in Russia’s defence industrial production and limits to Russia’s Soviet-era vehicle stockpiles.
The Russian seizure of Vuhledar follows a series of costly, failed Russian assaults near the settlement over the past 2.5 years. Some Russian sources expressed doubts that Russian forces will be able to rapidly advance and achieve operationally significant breakthroughs.
Ukraine suffered daily drone attacks throughout September. Russian forces launched 1,339 Shahed-type UAVs on Ukraine, 1,107 of which were shot down. Electronic warfare devices jammed others. On average, the Russians launched 44 Shaheds every day.
For over the last two years, the Russian military has been brutally shelling Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and medical facilities. The enemy daily attacks outpatient clinics, maternity wards, and polyclinics, and also kills and terrorizes Ukrainian doctors.
A report that Russia is developing a China-backed attack drone program for the war in Ukraine is “deeply concerning,” EU spokesperson, Nabila Massrali, said. “If these reports are accurate, this would mean that Chinese companies are providing Russia with lethal assistance”.
Former United States President Donald Trump lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for not making concessions to Russia, giving his strongest indication to date he would stop backing Kyiv if he wins the United States presidential election.
