On May 5, in Minsk, President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus announced that the country will not participate in the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. This statement was made during an interview with the Associated Press, as reported by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BELTA).
President Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus sees no necessity to join the Russian Armed Forces’ special operation in Ukraine. He stated, “We do not intend to participate in the special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine because there is no need for it.”
He further elaborated that Belarus has already provided and continues to offer all possible support to Russia. “Therefore, there is no need to engage in this special operation,” the head of state reiterated, underscoring the country’s stance on the matter.
