According to Ukrainian military intelligence, Ukrainian forces thwarted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s initial blitzkrieg strategy aimed at capturing key cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa. As a result, Russian efforts are now primarily concentrated in the eastern regions of Ukraine. However, Russia has not abandoned its overarching goal of complete control over Ukraine.

This was stated by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to military intelligence, Russia still possesses significant potential to engage in a prolonged conflict against Ukraine. Skibitskyi noted that the adversary is currently deploying 103 battalion tactical groups on Ukrainian territory, directly participating in combat operations. Additionally, approximately 40 more battalion tactical groups are held in reserve and could be mobilized against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The intelligence representative also highlighted that due to the military setbacks faced by the occupying forces, the Russian General Staff is compelled to revise its invasion plans every 30 days, focusing efforts on specific strategic directions. “We have confirmed information that the Russians have a plan for 120 days of warfare. Further adjustments to this plan will depend on whether the adversary succeeds or faces defeat in eastern Ukraine. Nonetheless, the objectives of the so-called special military operation, as declared by Putin at the war’s onset, have not been achieved by the Russians,” Skibitskyi emphasized.
