Belarus is currently engaged in large-scale military exercises aimed at transitioning from peacetime to wartime operations, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. These exercises are part of a broader strategy to enhance the combat readiness of the Belarusian armed forces.
Starting from June 7, the Belarusian military initiated a series of readiness drills. The primary objective of these exercises is to practice the transition from a state of peace to a state of war. These drills are not limited to regular forces but also include conscripts who have recently been called up for military service and are undergoing initial training programs.
During these sessions, the focus is on organizing the protection and defense of both military and civilian infrastructure. The exercises also cover the implementation of martial law measures and countering sabotage and reconnaissance groups. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure that all aspects of military preparedness are addressed.
Furthermore, from June 22 to July 1, mobilization exercises are scheduled to take place in the Gomel region, involving military commissariats. These exercises will include all categories of military personnel, units, military parts, formations, and military administration bodies. The theme remains consistent: transitioning from peacetime to wartime.
Additionally, from June 28 to July 16, military assemblies are planned in the Zhlobin district of the Gomel region for servicemen of newly established territorial troops. These activities underscore Belarus’s commitment to bolstering its military capabilities amid regional tensions.
Previously, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Belarus intends to increase its army’s size to 80,000 personnel, reflecting its strategic focus on enhancing military strength.
