According to Ukrinform, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine has reported an alarming incident involving a film crew led by seasoned Portuguese war correspondent Antonio Mateus. The team came under fire in the village of Limany, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones.
The Union quoted journalist Andriy Kovalenko from the Ukrainian Press Academy, who is currently working with the RTP team, stating, “We were fleeing and filming.” This statement underscores the perilous conditions under which journalists operate to bring news from the front lines.
Ukrinform has also noted that law enforcement agencies in Ukraine have initiated 46 cases concerning crimes committed by Russian military forces against journalists. These cases reflect the broader context of threats and violence faced by media personnel in the region.
