EU Sets 2027 Deadline to Eliminate Imports of Russian Gas

The EU has approved a phased ban on Russian gas, ending spot LNG imports in early 2026 and pipeline supplies by September 2027. The law adds penalties, tighter customs checks, stricter origin verification and a path toward banning Russian oil imports by the end of 2027.
