Russian occupying forces appear to be preparing to deport 10,500 Ukrainian children from occupied Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine’s National Resistance Center said on November 26, 2022, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
“Special medical assistance”
According to the centre, Russian-installed authorities carried out medical examinations of 15,000 children aged 2 to 17. Medical workers brought in from Russia allegedly recorded that 70% of them “require special medical assistance,” a finding the centre said Russia was using to justify sending them to Russia.
The scheme
Children are first placed in specialised health institutions, and their return home is then delayed for “trumped up reasons” to lure parents into visiting, the centre said. Afterwards, families are allegedly prevented from returning to Ukraine.
Members of the Ukrainian resistance also reported that more than 1,500 people from occupied Kherson Oblast had been moved to a boarding house in Anapa in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
Appeal to parents
The National Resistance Center urged residents of occupied areas not to allow Russian doctors to examine their children. “Save the children from the Russians’ villainy; if you are able to, leave the region,” it said.
The claims could not be independently verified. Ukraine has accused Russia of forcibly deporting thousands of Ukrainian children since the start of the full-scale invasion, which Moscow presents as evacuation.
