A significant Russian military strike on the village of Velykyi Burluk in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region incited a widespread fire, devastating the area and injuring two elderly women. The fire engulfed approximately 2,000 square meters (21,528 square feet) after Russian forces targeted the village’s central area. This attack resulted in the complete annihilation of a two-story commercial structure, alongside partial impairments to a two-story residential building and multiple municipal offices, businesses, and market pavilions. The incident has further compounded the ongoing challenges faced by the region due to escalating hostilities and repeated military offensives.

Emergency response teams, including the State Emergency Service alongside local municipal responders and medical workers, promptly intervened to mitigate the blaze and provide aid to those affected. The focus remained on controlling the fire and ensuring the injured women, aged 86 and 72, received adequate medical care, highlighting the strain placed on emergency services in the wake of intensified attacks.

The previous day’s drone strike in Kharkiv wounded 47 people, illustrating a worrying escalation in hostilities in the region, including a prior drone assault on Zaporizhzhia resulting in dozens of injuries.
