NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska spoke at the Folk och Försvar Annual National Conference in Sweden about the threat Russia plays to NATO as a whole. “Russia is preparing for a long-term confrontation with us. They say this openly, and they act accordingly. Just this year, Russia’s total military spending will be 7 or 8 % of GDP, if not more. Russia’s defense industry is scaling up, with the help of China, Iran, and North Korea; together, they’re aiming to destabilize the global order, to weaken Europe and North America, and to undermine our freedoms.”

Environmental Security: the Sixth Conference in Continuation of the First Peace Summit Was Held in Helsinki

Finland hosted a meeting dedicated to the 8th point of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, Environmental Security, at Ukraine’s request. The conference was held in hybrid and attended by representatives from 60 countries. The Joint Communiqué on strengthening environmental security in Ukraine published in connection with the conference stresses that it is important to assess and repair the damages caused by the war and that those guilty of crimes must be held accountable. The objective of the conference was to promote the reconstruction of Ukraine per the principles of sustainable development and the green transition.

EU to invest record €7 billion into sustainable, safe and smart transport infrastructure

The European Commission has selected 134 transport projects to receive over €7 billion in EU grants from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EU’s instrument for strategic investment in infrastructure. Several projects will enable greater capacity along the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, established to facilitate imports and exports between Ukraine and the EU.
