The German military procurement office, BAAINBw, has commissioned Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH to deliver 149 mobile medical aid stations under a framework contract signed in December 2024. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance medical support capabilities for military operations.

Of the 149 stabilization points ordered, 112 units will be equipped with ballistic armor protection, while the remaining units will be delivered without such protection. This information was reported by HartPunkt on August 3. The mobile medical units are designed to provide critical medical support in combat zones, with Ukraine having utilized these complexes since September 2023, following an earlier order in June 2023 for two field surgical stations from Rheinmetall.

Each mobile medical unit comprises two containers, a connecting component, and a dedicated transport system, ensuring rapid deployment and assembly in the field. These units form part of the Modular Medical Facilities (MSE) project and represent the first level of NATO’s Deployment Health Surveillance (DHS) program, which aims to deliver emergency surgery and primary care directly at the point of need.

According to BAAINBw, the new stations will serve as the initial point of contact for wounded soldiers, providing life-saving assistance, as evidenced by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. All necessary medical equipment is stored within the rescue stations, enabling quick mobilization and operation alongside combat forces.

On April 10, 2026, the German Military Attaché officially handed over five MEDIGUARD armored medical vehicles to the National Guard of Ukraine. This delivery, announced by the German Embassy in Ukraine, marked the first group of vehicles provided under a new, fully funded contract by the German government. The MEDIGUARD models, incorporating feedback from Ukrainian soldiers, feature anti-drone grids for protection against FPV drones, with medical equipment and armor manufactured in Germany and final assembly in Ukraine.
